Results of the 12-5-2015 Bathrick Marine Swap Meet - by Mark Suter

Attendance and Weather

It was a chilly (mid-30s) and blustery day but there was sun and no snow. All-in-all, a nice December day for a meet. There were 35 registered attendees.

Swap Meet

At the request of our host, Shannon Bathrick, many members and town folk brought motors, parts, etc. to sell. The result was the best swap meet ever at this meet. Business seemed to be pretty brisk as much of the hardware changed hands. Thanks to all that sold and bought and made this facet of the meet a huge success.

Coffee, Donuts, Lunch and Finances

A supply of hot coffee was well maintained by Dan Soderstrom. Yummy donuts were donated by Jim Wildgen. Our host arranged a delicious hot lunch that was cooked to perfection by the chef, Frank. There were plenty of sides like onion rings, potato salad, Blanche Dykehouse's famous baked beans (and a few others that I didn't try and

can't remember), beverage and dessert. Judy Bowers brought a huge "Chop Suey Cake"" (my favorite) and Linda Brock and others brought several kinds of cookies. It was simply a fantastic meal. Serving was facilitated by Charlene Hamp, Jennifer Bathrick, Linda Brock, Rog Dykehouse, and others that I can't remember. It was truly a meal to remember Your efforts are sincerely appreciated.

The donations for lunch (@ $6 per head) totaled $216. Reimbursable expenses totaled $95. That left a balance of $121 profit to split between our host and the Chapter ($61 to Shannon and $60 for the WC). A special donation of $50 by Rog Dykehouse brought the total profit for the WC up to $110.

Wrap-Up

Besides providing a great venue for a WC meet, our host was hoping our motor display and swap area would be of interest to his customers. In addition to Roger Dykehouse, et al handing out meet flyers, Shannon placed ads in a local publication to invite his customers to stop by and check out the event. Many customers did show up and spent time looking at all of the motors in our display. Some brought motors and parts to sell. Many asked a lot of questions about the display and about our club and our members were more than happy to provide answers. So the dual purpose aspect helped make the meet a win-win situation for all involved and our host is receptive to doing it again next year. Thank you Shannon for the use of your great facility and all of your preparations. We are already looking forward to doing it again next year

None of this would have happened without the orchestration of Roger Dykehouse, our meet Chairman. The meet was simply a huge success... we thank you for planning and running the meet
