The Ultimate Sports Show in the Devos Place in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan
Michigan's finest tradition for the avid fisherman, hunter or outdoor loving family. Exhibitors were at the show with the latest in outdoor gear, travel information and fishing boats. The features are famous: Antique Lures, Trout Pond, Hawg Trough, Woodcarvers, and the Rock Climbing wall. Nearly 100 fishing and hunting seminars will be held on 5 stages, including Lake Ultimate - the 110,000 gallon indoor lake fully stocked!
The Wolverine Chapter participated in this Grand Rapids Ultimate Sports Show at DeVos Place from March 12 to 15 as part of Terry McBurney's Antique & Classic Fishing Tackle attraction. The show brings in many features and attractions to lure (pun intended) attendees. Below is a screenshot from the website promoting the show.
While their website doesn't accurately describe our portion of the attraction, you get the picture. We always get leads on outboards and often gain a new member or two through our participation at the show. This year I handed out about twenty business cards and had about five people pick up AOMCI and Wolverine Chapter information including membership applications. Every year I have helped man the booth I have ended up with more outboards. This year I got a lead on, and purchased, a 1957 Wagemaker Wolverine 12 ft aluminum boat with 1957 Evinrude Fleetwin on a TeeNee trailer that was bought new as a package by the seller's father. The price was very reasonable because the couple wanted it preserved as a package by someone who appreciated its history. Chapter trustee Jim Brizzolara purchased a rare Coleman lantern from the same couple.
