Wolverine Chapter Meet in Coopersville, Michigan on
March 21, 2026
The Coopersville meet this past Saturday was well attended with 25 people signed in. The great weather ensured the swap portion of the event went well with lots of buying and selling. Many interesting outboards were displayed and discussed, and the potluck lunch was delicious. We held our annual business meeting where the current chapter board members were re-elected in a landslide vote.
Your board for 2026 consists of:
- Bill Shattuck: President
- Jim Nienhouse: Vice President
- John Vandervoort: Treasurer and Membership Lead
- Jason Pell: Trustee
- Jon Zapolski: Trustee
- Jim Brizzolara: Trustee
- Jim Wildgen: Trustee and webmaster
John Vandervoort couldn't attend the meet so I shared his annual report of our chapter's health (financial picture and membership changes). Our membership is down to 50 but we gained five new members during 2025 and our chapter bank account continues to grow, ending 2025 with a balance of $5326.62. This is a significant fund balance so your board is interested in hearing any ideas you may have for utilizing some of it to benefit all our members.
For many years, Trustee Jim Wildgen has worked behind the scenes maintaining and improving our chapter website (www.wolverinechapter.com). He recently made a major improvement that incorporates pictures and information from all our meets (when available) since the chapter was formed. In our earlier years when we had more members the chapter published and mailed a newsletter on a regular basis. They often contained written information about our meets which Jim wants to transfer to our website where it can be preserved and accessed by all chapter members. Jim gave an exceptional presentation of how to use the website highlighting the improvements he made. Before his presentation president Bill Shattuck presented Jim with our 'Golden Prop' award recognizing him for the initiative and hours of labor he donates to the chapter in support of our IT technology. Nothing like putting a little pressure on him and his presentation.
